CLA, also known as conjugated linoleic acid, is a polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acid that cannot be produced by the body and is therefore considered essential. The prefix conjugated refers to a form of double bonding in chemistry, hence CLA has different properties to its slightly differently structured counterpart, linoleic acid.
Meat and dairy products are among the main dietary sources of conjugated linoleic acid. The CLA content of our product comes from a plant source, the oil of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius).
